In this smoothie mix, I have plums, red grapes, watermelon, pineapple, red apple and golden pear. The tangerine is not in the mix because I already have enough water from the watermelon with which to blend the fruits. The tangerine was eaten separately.

Before I proceed, I just want to state that I am not a nutritionist, neither do I have a medical background. I just did some research in order to understand why and how I should take my fruits.

So what exactly do I have in this mix? Lets see. . .

Plum: This fruit is rich in so many ways. It contains antioxidants, its rich in vitamin c, contains vitamin B-6, regular consumption of plum helps in weight loss, its got a lot of dietary fiber, the consumption of dry plums is beneficial to the bones. Plums or the extracts from plums help in combating diabetes. This fruit has many more health benefits.


Golden Pear: Pears are rich in vitamin C, vitamin K and nutrients which act as antioxidants, they are a great source of dietary fiber. Consumption of pears help in the risk reduction of colon cancer.


Watermelon: This fruit which comes in pink, red and yellow colored flesh contains vitamins A, C and B6. It also contains other antioxidants as well which help in protecting the body against colon and other cancers. The fruit is also a good source of potassium which helps in controlling heart rates and blood pressure.


Pineapple: This fruit contains antioxidants like vitamins A and C. It also contains micro nutrients like potassium  (helps in controlling heart rate and blood pressure), copper (helps red blood cell synthesis) and beta-carotene which protects from free radicals, helps the immune system and eyesight.


Red Grapes: They contain vitamins A, B-6, C, E and K. They also contain micro nutrients like alpha carotene, beta carotene and folate. Others are manganese, copper, iron, zinc, calcium, potassium, selenium etc.


Red Apple: Apples contain phytonutrients which help in the regulation of blood sugar. Phytonutrients are nutrients found in the skins of many fruits and vegetables. These nutrients determine the color and scent of these fruits and vegetables. Apples are also a rich source of antioxidants.

With these fruits in my smoothie mix, it means I have me a chilled, healthy glass of drink which is beneficial to my body in many ways. It will boost my metabolism, protect my body from harmful free radicals. It does not stop there. This delicious glass of smoothie (trust me, it tastes great!) will also have a positive impact on my bones, hair growth, skin, nails and teeth.
